Clearpath Financial is a trading name of CLP Financial Ltd, registered in Scotland, company number SC889107. Our registered office is 6 Merkland Road, Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, ML5 2PE. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.

This page explains what we collect when you contact us about your debts, why we need it, who sees it and how to get it removed. If anything here is unclear, email info@clearpath-financial.co.uk and we will explain it properly.

The short version

  • We only ask for what we need to understand your situation and talk you through your options.
  • We never sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone without telling you.
  • You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you at any time, and we will.

What we collect

When you browse the site

If you accept analytics cookies, we collect which pages you visit, roughly where in the country you are, what device and browser you use, and which site you arrived from. This is anonymous and we use it to see which pages are useful. If you decline, we do not collect any of it.

When you make an enquiry

  • Your name, email address and mobile number.
  • Roughly how much you owe in total, what the debts are for, and what you pay towards them each month.

If you carry on through our Fast Track pages

  • Your estimated monthly income, and your estimated monthly living costs. These are your own rough figures, not anything we verify at that stage.
  • Bank statements, if you choose to send them.

When you speak to us

We keep notes of what we discussed so that whoever you speak to next already knows your situation and you do not have to repeat it. Calls may be recorded for training and to check we have given you the right information. If you would rather a call was not recorded, say so at the start and we will stop it.

A word about bank statements

Bank statements say more about a person than almost anything else they could send us. Yours may show pharmacy or hospital payments, donations to a church or a political party, union subscriptions, gambling, or payments you would rather nobody saw. We understand that, and it is why we ask for statements only when we genuinely need them.

We use your statements for one purpose: working out what you can realistically afford each month, and checking that the figures in any proposal are right. We do not go looking for anything else, we do not comment on how you spend your money, and we only keep what we need. Please do not send us statements for anyone else’s account, or documents we have not asked for.

Why we use it

  • To reply to you and talk through your options. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business.
  • To work out which debt solutions may fit your circumstances. Our legitimate interest in giving you an answer that is actually relevant to you.
  • To introduce you to an insolvency practitioner or debt solution provider. Only once you have told us you want to go ahead.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record keeping and anti-money-laundering checks where they apply.
  • To measure our advertising and improve the website. Only with your consent, through cookies.

Who we share it with

  • Insolvency practitioners and debt solution providers we work with. We only pass your details on once you have told us you want to proceed, and we will tell you who they are before we do.
  • Our software and service providers, who handle things on our behalf: the system that stores client records, our email and file storage, and our website host. They can only use your information to provide that service to us.
  • Advertising and analytics platforms, where you have accepted cookies. See the cookies section below.
  • Anyone we are legally required to share it with, such as a regulator, a court, or where we have to report a suspicion in law.

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to other debt companies, lead buyers or brokers.

How long we keep it

  • If you enquire and decide not to go ahead, we delete or anonymise your details within 12 months of the last time we were in contact.
  • If you go ahead with a debt solution, we keep your file for as long as the law and our regulatory obligations require us to, and then delete it.
  • Bank statements are deleted once they have served their purpose and we no longer need them for the above.

You do not have to wait for any of this. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will, unless we are legally required to keep it.

Cookies

Some cookies are necessary for the site to work at all, such as remembering your cookie choice and keeping forms secure. These are always on.

Analytics cookies, through Google Analytics, tell us which pages people find useful. Advertising cookies, through Meta, let us measure whether our adverts are working. Neither of these is set unless you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings on the site or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of everything we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete what we hold, where we are not required to keep it;
  • stop or limit how we use it, including stopping contact from us;
  • send your information to another provider in a portable format;
  • withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.

Email info@clearpath-financial.co.uk or call 0141 611 6325 and tell us what you want. It is free, you do not need to give a reason, and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy

Please tell us first, so we have the chance to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. You can go to the ICO without coming to us first if you would prefer.

Free debt advice

Free and impartial debt advice is available from MoneyHelper, set up by the government. You do not have to use a commercial provider to get help with your debts.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your details, we will tell you directly.
